Caracal
(Caracal Caracal)
Habitat/Range
Africa, Arabian Peninsula
Caracals are the heaviest and the fastest of the small cats in Africa. They tend to live in the drier areas of Africa and the Middle East. Their long black ear tufts, or tassels, are most likely used to communicate. These cats are agile hunters and can leap up to 10 feet high!
Caracals are generally solitary animals. While the male does not help raise the young, kittens will stay with their mother until they are about one year old.
