We have some huge news to share with you! Our lovely Red Ruffed Lemur parents, Val and Doug, welcomed three lovely babies to the world on April 25, 2026.

Wild Adventures is now in its triplet era as guests will soon be able to greet Red, Marjorie, and Taylor!

Learn About the Red Ruffed Lemur

Red Ruffed Lemurs can be found in the wild in Madagascar. They tend to be very active and vocal animals, with over 12 distinct calls. This is why they earn their nickname as the “chatterboxes” of the forest.

A diet of a Red Ruffed Lemur consists of primarily fruit, with some leaves, flowers, and nectar as well.

You can find Red Ruffed Lemurs grooming one another, sunbathing, and leaping from surface to surface. You may even see them hanging upside down.

An Important Birth for All Red Ruffed Lemurs

Not only is this a sweet sight, but this is great news for the Red Ruffed Lemur species!

Red Ruffed Lemurs are a critically endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. It is estimated that the total population is under 10,000. Val and Doug have welcomed a litter of babies every year since 2023. Our Animal Care team is so proud of these two and their babies as they grow into a family.

Pretty soon, you’ll be able to visit these three cuties in their habitat located near the Giraffe Overlook!
