The curly hair tarantula is a plump-bodied spider, covered with dark brown and black bristles. They also have a golden-bronze sheen due to longer gold bristles that cover the whole body, which are particularly dense on the hind legs. Their legs reach around 14.5 cm in length.
The Curly Hair Tarantulas have a specific area on the end of each leg that is sensitive to smell, taste, and vibration and is used to detect prey. These tarantulas are primarily nocturnal hunters. Their darker bristles allow for better stealth when hunting prey. They use venom to paralyze their prey and begin digesting it.
