Merchandise Area Supervisor

Position:  Merchandise Area Supervisor

Description: The Merchandise Area Supervisor accountable for the supervision of merchandise locations to achieve improved profits through increasing sales volume, as well as proper operational and loss prevention procedures for each location. Responsible for training and developing team members. Responsible to ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and directives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain a smooth flow of communication between department management and team members.
  • Training all new Team members on Merchandise and Games policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that all Team Members deliver outstanding guest service at all times.
  • Work to ensure that each store and game meets budgeted standards.
  • Understand and enforce all company and department guidelines, including all uniform and grooming, absence and tardy, and situations requiring disciplinary action.
  • Maintain the highest level of guest service and satisfaction.
  • Ensure all staffing needs are met on a daily basis.
  • Provide constructive feedback to department employees. Give frequent oral evaluations and share ways in which they can improve.
  • Assist in training on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and develop departmental policies and procedures guide.
  • Communicate with warehouse staff concerning products on hand.
  • Work on product placement in all merchandise locations.
  • Communicate with Merchandise & Games Manager regarding staffing needs.
  • Ensure all shops and games are opened and closed at their scheduled times.
  • Assist Cash Control with cash audits on registers.
  • Observe receiving methods to ensure all policies are being followed.
  • Assist with monthly and yearly inventories
  • Be aware of any safety violations and potential hazards.
  • Train, develop, direct, & motivate each team member to produce maximum sales.
  • Train, supervise and direct each team member to maintain a strong loss prevention environment (operational and shoplifting aspects).
  • Interpret, implement and enforce all policies and procedures.
  • Solve problems logically and professionally, seeking advice when necessary.
  • Direct daily meetings for training purposes.
  • Effectively schedule proper coverage for each location.
  • Responsible for maintaining and creating exciting unique store and game displays.
  • Evaluate team members for progress, reviews and/ or promotions. Promptly deal with marginally performing team members.
  • Ensuring that all documents are turned in daily and filed properly.
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent; or 2 to 3 years related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have thorough knowledge of procedures used in handling, recording, deposit money.
