Human Resources Assistant

Position:  Human Resources Assistant

Description: Provides administrative support to the Human Resources staff and including preparation of correspondence, memos, reports, data entry and duties related to the position. Position requires a team player in support of the best interest of the company which may include working within various departments in the parks, Guest Service skills a priority.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform the Reception function by greeting all team members or potential team members and assisting their needs.
  • Answering incoming Human Resource lines and either directing those calls to others or concluding the call by satisfying their requests.
  • Receives and screens incoming and outgoing messages, facsimile transmissions and telephone calls to Human Resources.
  • File applications for various positions. 
  • Manages tracking mechanism to assure timely action (approval, disapproval, etc.) and prioritizing of work requirements for new hires and terminations. 
  • Drafts routine follow-up correspondence as requested by the Human resources staff with accuracy and promptness.
  • Assists with organizing and maintains files, notebooks and manuals to assist the Human Resources area in retrieving information. 
  • Performs general administrative duties including, but not limited to, general typing, filing, and making copies as needed in support of the HR staff.
  • Maintains assigned computer hardware and software, disc files, and ensures confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Maintains utilization of appropriate office equipment, including word processing and computer systems.
  • Utilizes equipment and supplies efficiently with maximum cost effectiveness and assures appropriate supply levels.
  • Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees
  • Assists the HR Coordinator with employment applications in order to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
  • Provides data entry for HR systems (Time Force, JD Edwards, Galaxy)
  • Ability to be cross trained in the park. 
  • Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
  • Prepare badges, passes, and identification cards.
  • Assist in planning employee parties and incentive programs
  • Assists Human Resources staff with special projects as requested
  • Other duties as needed

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education and / or Experience—Applicant must possess a High School Diploma; or 2 or more year’s experience.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills—Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Reasoning Ability-- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
